Having
received your enquiry, I would arrange a preliminary visit to the garden and
consultation with you. I allow plenty of time for this first visit so that the
project can be discussed in some detail.
It also provides the
opportunity for you to see plans and photographs of some of my commissions, so
that you will have an idea of what I might be able to produce for you. The fee
for this visit would be agreed beforehand - based on distance and time
involved. |

Following my visit, I would prepare a
written quotation for preparing a design for your garden. This would normally
cover the following three stages:
- Outline Plan.
I would make an appointment to visit the garden and take measurements and
photographs. I usually do this myself, because it enables me to absorb a lot of
information about the site and its surroundings. However, if the site were
particularly complex, I would employ a surveyor to carry out this survey. I
would then prepare a preliminary plan, which outlines the main elements of the
design.
- Detailed Plan.
At this stage, I would arrange to meet with you to discuss the design. This
enables me to make any adaptations before I refine the plan and add more detail
to complete the design for your garden. This may include sections or sketches
as required.
- Planting
Scheme. The third stage of the design would be the preparation of a
detailed planting scheme and plant list if this is required.

The completed Garden design, which I
produce for you, will be unique - an individual design based on my response to
you the client, your house, garden and its surroundings. It will be based on
the requirements of your family, and the particular features of the site and
the soil in your garden.
The finished design can be used to obtain
quotations for the cost of construction or used as the basis for your own work
in the garden. I can help you find a specialist contractor and be on hand for
further advice if required.
The plan will enable you to get construction
and planting work carried out at your own pace as energy or budget allows! I
hope that it will provide you with ideas for developing the garden in the
future, since gardens continue to evolve long after the planning
stage. |
