Brief The house was being extensively renovated with the addition of a new wing and conservatory. Very little of the existing garden was retained apart from some mature trees and hedges. This was in fact the second commission for my client - I designed a garden for her some years ago. The scheme included re-designing the approach to the house at the front. The back of the garden was to include different areas of interest formal areas, herbaceous planting, a white garden, paths for access and water. |

| Project Outline Yew hedging and topiary provide a strong structure at the front of the house, where mature trees line the driveway. A new terrace area paved with reclaimed York stone paving extends around the conservatory linking the different parts of the house. |

The garden has a strong framework of yew hedging and steps lead down the garden. There is a fountain in the knot garden at the top of the garden. Water emerges beneath the terrace to run in a narrow rill along the path - to disappear further down the garden. A tunnel arbour covers the path, which leads to the lower garden, pool and South-facing garden house.
